My mom came to the United States a couple years after my father, in 1973. However, she did not come as "legal" as he did. My mom had only three children at the time, but my oldest brother Sal was already in the U.S.

So my mother attempted to go across the border with my two elder sisters (ages 3 and 7 at the time). She was accompanied by my uncle and unfortunately thety were caught by immigration officials. Nevertheless, my mom didn't give up and made it to the U.S. that same year. She became a resident and, finally, a citizen!
